The smooth finish makes Jonathan's utensils easy to clean. Handwashing with a Scotchbrite® pad and hot soapy water will do the trick. (We don't recommend washing them in the dishwasher.) Every now and then, after washing your spoons, treat them to Jonathan's Spoonwax ~ a special combination of Organic Coconut Oil and Beeswax. This brings out the natural luster and beauty of the wood.
